Educational Tours:
INLEX/CA offers through Educational Tours, integral learning experiences in a Central American country that include educational activities focused on topics such as:
- Environment,
- Health,
- Education,
- Indigenous cultures,
- Democratization,
- Community development,
- Grassroots organizations,
- Animal husbandry,
- Tropical agriculture,
- Organic farming,
- Micro enterprises, and
- Income generating projects.
Key Activities in Each Program:
During their time in the country participants will:
- Visit projects and activities that best illustrate the topics of the program,
- Attend and actively participate in presentations by professionals and practitioners,
- Have opportunities for developing skills through practice in the specific field.
These tours also include cross cultural training and experiences to facilitate communication and understanding with people of other cultures. This is accomplished through activities such as living with local families, processing of experiences with well trained facilitators, visiting indigenous (Mayan and other indigenous groups) and colonial sites, and participation in indigenous cultural activities and religious ceremonies where pertinent.
Duration:
Typically these tours have duration of two weeks. For individual participants interested there is the option of adding extra weeks for Spanish or Mayan language training.
Support:
An INLEX/CA staff member stays with the group throughout the duration of the program, providing orientation to the group at the beginning and throughout the program, as well as support and translations when needed.
Costs:
Costs will be calculated for each program. They include include participation in all training and
cultural activities, lodging, meals, transportation, insurance, and fees for visiting archeological places. The costs do not include international transportation nor airport/exit taxes.
