Dental Campaign 2017
The dental program in Guatemala is aimed at helping low income rural communities in the Mayan Highlands, who may not normally have access to these facilities, by deploying volunteers specializing in dental health. Dental professionals will help small clinics with patients, offering basic check-ups and treatment and also conducting workshops in low income rural schools about dental hygiene and prevention. Our campaigns are very beneficial to the rural areas, offering services that are often otherwise not available or limited. Although a translator/coordinator is provided for the entirety of the trip, volunteers joining the program should be able to speak basic Spanish to communicate with patients and the clinic’s staff.
Our medical campaigns are open to all volunteers with relevant training or experience in healthcare, however, volunteers will always be supervised by local staff regardless of their level of qualification and experience.
Since the clinics that volunteers will be working in are low income as well, any dental supplies to perform basic procedures are greatly appreciated by the clinics.
