The physiotherapy internship program is great for students or professionals in physio, occupational therapy, sports therapy or related fields. The physiotherapy program partners with various clinics that treat underprivileged populations a fraction of the cost what a normal therapy would cost.
Interns are welcome to apply all year long and must be studying or a professional in physical therapy, occupational therapy, sports therapy, or related fields. Applicants can request to work in a specific field in one of our destinations.
The physiotherapy clinic in Guatemala is run completely on donations and is set up to provide free or very affordable treatment to low-income locals that have a variety of conditions.
Patients come to the clinic for several reasons like injuries, hereditary conditions, occupational therapy, or more severe conditions like cerebral palsy or atrophy. The wide variety of conditions requires quite a lot of hands and interns are greatly appreciated to treat more people.
Interns in the physiotherapy clinic can expect to assist in therapies with appointments and walk-ins.
Work hours are Monday to Friday 8 am-4pm
Arrival to the program are most Sundays.
On arrival you are greeted by our friendly coordinators and taken to your accommodation. Next day you meet with all the volunteers and interns that came the previous days for orientation.
In orientation we cover topics like:
-Do’s and dont’s in the country
-How to get around and weekend travel
-Your projects
-Communication, SIM cards , and currency.
-Social meet ups with other participants.
Spanish classes are available at an extra cost in 20 hour blocks. Monday to Friday , 4 hours per day.

Interns must be studying or have completed a degree in Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or related field.
We encourage all of our participants in our programs to travel as much as they can during the weekends. Volunteers and interns usually travel together during the weekends. Our coordinators can assist you to make travels plans
During the weekdays volunteers and interns usually spend time together after their assignments.
INLEX works in Costa Rica by supporting patients in various clinics with physiotherapy departments. As an intern in the physiotherapy program in Costa Rica, you can work in various projects in rehabilitation, atrophy prevention, and diagnosis.
Chronic pain clinic: Interns working in this clinic, support physiotherapists and doctors that work with patients that suffer from chronic pain to heal or contain pain through therapy and other methods. The patients suffer from congenital diseases that limit movement, crippling diseases or have suffered major trauma.
Work is from 9 am to 3 pm, Tues to Friday.
Assisted living facility: Interns here work in a clinic inside an assisted living facility that provides therapy to older patients, or patients that have suffered a trauma.
Work is from 8 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday.
