Veterinaries have a complex task at hand, as they take care of many animal species and their patients can’t talk to them. Join our veterinary program and work alongside veterinary professionals in clinics that treat household animals as well as farm animals
The veterinary internship program is perfect for those studying to be zoologists, veterinaries, biologists, or researchers. In the veterinary program, you will gain real-world experience with animals helping administer treatments, learning about the diagnosis, and learning about equipment and drugs used on animals.
Arrival to the program are most Sundays.
On arrival you are greeted by our friendly coordinators and taken to your accommodation. Next day you meet with all the volunteers and interns that came the previous days for orientation.
In orientation we cover topics like:
-Do’s and dont’s in the country
-How to get around and weekend travel
-Your projects
-Communication, SIM cards , and currency.
-Social meet ups with other participants.
Volunteers must have previous knowledge in animal care, or must be studying a degree related to animal care.

We encourage all of our participants in our programs to travel as much as they can during the weekends. Volunteers and interns usually travel together during the weekends. Our coordinators can assist you to make travels plans
During the weekdays volunteers and interns usually spend time together after their assignments.
Spanish classes are available at an extra cost in 20 hour blocks. Monday to Friday , 4 hours per day.

Join a veterinary clinic that works with a project that picks up street dogs and cats to be healed and neutered. In this internship, you will work alongside a vet and other interns to heal dogs that have been neglected or have been in an accident. This clinic supports the same shelter where volunteers are placed in Guatemala.
Minimum commitment: 4 weeks
Location: Antigua Guatemala and farm near Antigua Guatemala
Accommodation: host family with two meals per day or volunteer hostel
Available: year round.
Requirements: Volunteers must have previous knowledge in animal care, or must be studying a degree related to animal care.
Get hands-on experience with animals by working in a veterinary clinic and be involved in various sorts of medical procedures. Volunteers in this program assist a veterinarian in a clinic with most aspects related to animal care. In the clinic you will be assisting in: consultations, diagnosing animals, prepping medical material and equipment, taking patient’s basic vital signs, assisting in surgeries, bathing animals, grooming animals, and basic administrative work.
As needed, you will be supporting visits to farms to tend to various sorts of animals.
Minimum commitment: 4 weeks
Location: San Ramon, Costa Rica
Accommodation: host family with two meals per day or volunteer hostel.
