In Guatemala, there is very little free or affordable support for individuals that have either physical or mental disabilities. Low-income families that cannot afford good care for their members with special needs are left to figure out what they can do to support them.
INLEX works alongside a special needs project that helps people with disabilities whose families cannot afford proper care. Volunteers are very much needed in this field as there is always a lot of work and not enough people.
In the special needs volunteering program you will be working with other volunteers and staff to care for disabled students by helping them cook, play games, assist in physical therapy, and keep the place tidy and welcoming for the students.

Vocational training is also available for volunteers that are handy in certain areas.
The children are divided into groups according to the type of disability that they might have.
