The medical volunteer abroad program helps small clinics provide adequate treatment to local families in the communities where we work.
This program is perfect for volunteers looking to start their careers in healthcare and just beginning their studies in the field. Volunteers in healthcare shadow staff in small treatment centers such as pain clinics and infirmaries, assist disabled or elderly patients and take part in health education campaigns and workshops. The healthcare volunteering program is great for students in their pre-med stages or studying health sciences.
If you are in the advanced stages of your medical or nursing career or are a healthcare professional you can opt for the medical internship program or the nursing internship program where you will have more hands-on experience working in larger clinics or hospitals with more responsibility.
Guatemala is one of the poorest countries in the Americas. This comes with bad access to health care and poor conditions for patients. Join our medical volunteer program in Guatemala and help communities stay healthy by joining a network of clinics working non-stop to treat various conditions.
In the medical volunteer program in Guatemala, you will be assigned to a rural medical clinic where you will be assisting the medical staff. Since this is a healthcare program, you will be assisting in a wider range of tasks from medical material prepping, health workshops, nutritional workshops, supply logistics in medical campaigns and some administrative work.
Work is Monday to Friday, 8 am-4pm.
If you are looking for something more advanced that meets your current training, you can join our medical internship program.
Arrival to the program are most Sundays.
On arrival you are greeted by our friendly coordinators and taken to your accommodation. Next day you meet with all the volunteers and interns that came the previous days for orientation.
In orientation we cover topics like:
-Do’s and dont’s in the country
-How to get around and weekend travel
-Your projects
-Communication, SIM cards , and currency.
-Social meet ups with other participants.
There are no requirements for this program other than being able to communicate at the project and work well in teams.
Must have some training in the healthcare field.
We encourage all of our participants in our programs to travel as much as they can during the weekends. Volunteers and interns usually travel together during the weekends. Our coordinators can assist you to make travels plans
During the weekdays volunteers and interns usually spend time together after their assignments.
Spanish classes are available at an extra cost in 20 hour blocks. Monday to Friday , 4 hours per day.

Live in the beautiful town of Cusco while volunteering in our medical program. By joining the medical volunteer program in Peru you will be joining a clinic that works towards providing affordable or free healthcare to very low-income families.
You will be shadowing nurses that will be prepping materials, charts, and equipment for patients. This medical volunteer position is meant for people in the very early stages of their healthcare training. If you are looking for something more advanced that meets your current training, you can join our medical internship program.
Join a team of dedicated healthcare professionals that work in small clinics and hospitals to treat the general Costa Rican population. This healthcare program is designed for volunteers that are just beginning their medical or nursing career, are in pre-med stages or have a limited amount of knowledge in the healthcare field.
You will be working alongside doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals in health education, patient history, taking vital signs, prepping medical equipment, assisting the elderly population in assisted living homes, assisting therapists with chronic pain treatment and nutrition campaigns.
Work is Monday to Friday, 8 am -3pm.
